Prom is a once, or maybe even twice, in a lifetime opportunity for a young man to attend a formal party with others his age. Unless you are planning on going to more than five black tie  events in a year there is little reason to purchase. Now a rental Tuxedo is going to be nowhere close to the quality a tailored tux would be but teenage boys tend to ruin things faster than most. Traditionally boys dress in black or white formal wear, regardless of the time of the event, paired with ties or bow ties with vests, in some cases in colors matching their date’s dress.
